Empowering children to produce speech and language confidently.

Rachel Bashkoff

MS, CCC-SLP

There is so much that I enjoy about practicing speech and language therapy. Meeting a child for the first time, assessing, planning goals, executing playful and effective sessions, forming relationships with team members, and especially watching the child’s speech, language and confidence improve. Helping children with motor speech delays and disorders has been one of the most successful areas of work in my career. More specifically, improving the movement of the jaw, lips, and tongue during speech production. I am a New York State licensed speech therapist with my certification of clinical competence (CCC); PROMPT trained Level II completed and currently working towards certification; Trained in Orofacial Myology, having completed the 28 hour Neo-Health Services Orofacial Myology course and additional courses focused on Tethered Oral Tissues (TOTs) and other orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs).

I received my bachelor's degree in Communication Studies from the University of Maryland and Masters of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Adelphi University, where I honed my clinical skills and developed a keen interest in working with children.

The therapy I provide is best when I’m in communication with a broader group which includes the parents and other specialists. I am currently interested in forming partnerships with schools, colleges and medical practices in Westchester county in New York. If you’re interested in connecting please get in touch.

Testimonials

  • “I met Rachel when my son was 2.5 and she worked with him for 6 years. Rachel is amazing. She adapted to Elias’s needs throughout the years, and I saw him evolve from a barely verbal little boy to a chatty kid. He loved working with her. She’s kind and listens to both his needs and my concerns. They had sessions both in person and remote, and she was able to keep him focused even through a screen (which isn’t an easy thing with a 7 yo diagnosed with adhd). Rachel was instrumental in helping me find the right school for Elias, talking to his teachers, other therapists, and being a true support system for me!”

  • “My daughter was fortunate to work with Rachel when she was 2 years old through her 3rd birthday. Juliet had no words at her second birthday and we did not know what we were unpacking cognitively. Rachel was so patient with Juliet but also took care of us and all of our emotions around learning what her challenges were. Juliet had a motor speech planning problem and Rachel did PROMPT therapy for Juliet 3 times/ week. Juliet progressed quickly soon calling Rachel -Ray Ray.  Rachel kept a notebook of words for us (which I still have) so that we could work with Juliet when she was not there. Juliet is now 11 and doesn’t stop talking. We are so thankful for Rachel and highly recommend her.”

  • “We worked with Rachel for years for both of our sons.  The boys always looked forward to their sessions with her. Rachel made it fun and they always left feeling good and more confident about themselves.  They made great progress towards their speech and language goals.  Rachel was always ready to communicate with their teachers and put that extra time in with me when I needed to make a decision about their schooling. We would definitely recommend Rachel for anyone who wants a speech therapist who really cares about the child’s needs.”
